By switching from the outdated OXID shop system to Shopify Plus, LERROS was able to increase their e-commerce sales , become less dependent on external agencies, and take their online shop to a new level.

  • The initial situation

LERROS, a renowned fashion brand for men of advanced age, is headquartered in Neuss, Germany. Since its founding in 1979, LERROS has expanded its presence to over 30 countries and built a diverse product offering ranging from trousers, T-shirts, and shirts to sweaters and jackets. Operating in various retail stores, as well as its own online store and fashion marketplaces, LERROS is a perfect example of a medium-sized company embracing modernization. Furthermore, the company is a sponsor and supporter of the Bayer Leverkusen football club.

  • The challenge

Until now, LERROS's online store was operated on the outdated OXID platform, which proved to be maintenance-intensive, error-prone, and inflexible. Any customization had to be handled by an external agency, which not only resulted in lost time but also high costs. LERROS wanted to take more control of its e-commerce business and needed an online store setup that was flexible enough to meet its own needs while remaining easy to use. Furthermore, the entire ERP system was to be overhauled and the company's entire IT infrastructure was to be placed on a new, robust, and modern foundation.

  • The solution approach

In collaboration with tante-e, LERROS migrated its online store from OXID to Shopify Plus. At the same time, Xentral was introduced as a new ERP system to serve as the company's central hub. The goal was to enable storytelling and visually powerful product presentations in Shopify while ensuring automated and standardized data input into Xentral.

The implementation

Shop design and user experience

A modern, minimalist store was created using a premium Shopify theme. The design offered a variety of options for integrating high-resolution photos and videos to best showcase LERROS's extensive product range. Great care was taken to ensure the design was not only appealing but also enhanced the user experience. For example, an intuitive navigation system was introduced to make it easier for customers to find their favorite items.

Product pages and filter logic

A key component of the project was the creation of product pages and filter logic that work seamlessly with Xentral's interface logic and data preparation. Using Xentral's API, LERROS' product data could be automatically synchronized with Shopify. The product pages were designed to contain a wealth of information such as product descriptions, sizing information, and detailed photos. Additionally, filter functions were implemented to allow customers to sort products by category, size, color, and price.

Migration of customer data

Another crucial aspect of the implementation was the migration of all customer data from the old store to the ERP system and Shopify. This ensured the continuity of customer relationships and enabled the continued use of all existing data for marketing purposes.

Individual solution for product photos

A custom solution was developed that enabled LERROS to upload all product photos from the shoots to a server. An algorithm assigned the photos to the correct product and product variant based on their name, as well as the correct arrangement and positioning. This process allowed the LERROS team to maintain the existing process and minimized the need for training or adaptation to new procedures.

Implementation of the Shopify POS system

In addition to the online presence, the Shopify POS system was also integrated into LERROS's physical showroom. This facilitated inventory management and enabled a seamless customer experience between online and offline purchases. This was a key factor in the rapid opening of new stores.
