By switching its online shop from Shopware 5 to Shopify Plus, Kloster Kitchen was able to significantly increase performance and take the online shop to a new level.
-
The initial situation
Kloster Kitchen is a leading brand specializing in ginger shots. Despite growing competition, Kloster Kitchen stands out with its premium products. With numerous awards and high-profile investors, including GRANINI, the brand has experienced rapid growth. To support and scale this growth, the previous Shopware-based online store had to be replaced with a more flexible and growth-oriented Shopify system. tante-e helped design and implement the new store, the new store structure, and the new design, as well as migrating all data from Shopware to Shopify.
-
The challenge
Migrating from one shop system to another is a complex task. Not only product data, shop data, and customer data must be transferred, but also the entire order history and other relevant data. Migrating subscription customers, in particular, presents an additional challenge. Furthermore, the existing shop design was outdated and not geared toward the brand's growth. It lacked a design and shop that offered sufficient space for product presentation and supported the brand's ambitious plans.

The solution approach
As a Shopify expert agency, we at tante-e were able to provide support here. We carried out a design relaunch with Kloster Kitchen and migrated all data from Shopware 5 to Shopify Plus. We completely redesigned the design and structure of the new online shop and transferred the CI and brand guide into a new, independent shop design. We also set up a suitable Klaviyo email marketing setup and provided individual consulting to the Kloster Kitchen team.

The results
The launch of Kloster Kitchen's new Shopify store resulted in remarkable improvements. With a 30% increase in conversion rate compared to the previous store, a significant improvement in customer satisfaction and business results was observed. Another achievement was a 20% reduction in visitor bounce rate, which can be attributed to the efficient store structure and user-friendliness of the new system.
Furthermore, the switch resulted in easier handling for the Kloster Kitchen team. The time previously spent managing the old, error-prone shop system was saved and used more efficiently. Furthermore, the data migration was completed successfully and without downtime, resulting in a seamless customer experience. Overall, the switch to the Shopify system has resulted in extremely satisfied customers, further validating the decision to switch.
Lessons Learned
The case study demonstrates that migrating from Shopware 5 to Shopify Plus can be a very sensible decision. It offers the opportunity to build a D2C brand's online store on a modern and functional foundation, supporting brand ambitions and goals. Properly designing and implementing the store structure and user journey has proven to be extremely important for conversion rates. And while A/B testing is a valuable tool, this project demonstrates that sometimes a more fundamental foundation is needed.
Furthermore, the experience with Kloster Kitchen has shown that a well-planned and executed migration results in no data loss and no negative consequences. In fact, a well-designed product configurator can help present a complex product offering in a very simple way, thus significantly improving the customer experience. This project demonstrates that with the right planning, the right team, and the right tools, a migration to a new e-commerce system can be not only seamless but also extremely beneficial.
