  • The initial situation

    Since its founding in March 2013, ZEC+ Nutrition has stood for high-quality nutritional supplements. The supplement brand works closely with influencers to market its products. Their existing online store ran on Shopware 5 and was to be migrated to Shopify. For this, ZEC+ Nutrition needed a partner with in-depth Shopify expertise who would not only support the migration but also act as a strategic sparring partner.

    ZEC+ Nutrition's online shop needed to implement a complex discount system that supported both in-store promotions and influencer marketing. At the same time, it had to meet the typical requirements of a supplement brand, such as quantity discounts for different flavors and regulatory requirements for products with specific ingredients. The catalog presentation also needed to remain clear and concise, despite many items being available in numerous variations.

    ZEC+ Nutrition approached tante-e, one of the leading Shopify Plus agencies in the German-speaking world. The first step involved analyzing the specific requirements of the supplement brand. Together, they then developed a strategy based on individual Shopify Functions and custom developments. Particular emphasis was placed on a flexible discount engine that scales with growing influencer marketing, as well as on features that specifically improve the user experience.

The implementation

Multi-campaign discount engine

The tante-e team developed a custom GraphQL app using Shopify Functions that manages two types of discounts in parallel: shop discounts with rebates from 5% to 50% and influencer discounts with fixed percentages between 10% and 25%. A best-price algorithm automatically applies the highest available discount.

Transparent discount communication

Available discounts are displayed as badges on product pages before customers enter a code. A copy-to-clipboard function allows codes to be copied directly from the shopping cart. An anti-stacking logic prevents discount conflicts through a best-price rule.

Dynamic quantity discounts

On product pages, customers can use quantity discounts via selectable quantity boxes. For products with multiple variants, dropdown menus appear for selecting the desired flavor for each discount level. Shopify Functions automatically check whether a quantity discount or a discount code is more advantageous.

Variant Image Filtering

To keep the image gallery clear for products with more than ten flavors, we implemented intelligent filtering. Customers only see automatically assigned images of the selected variant.

Regulatory compliance

For products containing melatonin, the team integrated checkout blocks that exclude PayPal as a payment method and display corresponding notices in the shopping cart and at checkout. This allows the shop to meet regulatory requirements without negatively impacting conversion rates.

Detailed nutritional and amino acid profiles are displayed on product pages in expandable dropdown menus. A toggle switch allows you to switch between "Per Serving" and "Per 100g".
