Thus, AEVOR as a D2C brand was able to shine in new splendor and celebrate new successes with its online shop after a successful relaunch.

  • The initial situation

AEVOR, based in Cologne, is one of the leading brands in the backpack, fashion, and apparel sectors. As part of the Fond of Group, AEVOR is known for its sustainable manufacturing and high-quality materials. The brand is characterized by a sportier focus in its look and feel and has a design-savvy target audience. AEVOR has previously had a strong presence primarily through B2B channels and offline. Its small e-commerce team wanted easy-to-maintain online shops and processes.

  • The challenge

Although AEVOR's online store was already set up on Shopify, it didn't meet the brand's visual standards or meet its performance, page speed, and performance requirements. The store didn't offer enough options to present its modern products to its target audience. When Pinq Ponq revised its corporate identity (CI) and brand guide, the design of the AEVOR online store needed to be adapted accordingly. AEVOR worked closely with a design firm that had little experience with e-commerce, conversion-optimized designs, and Shopify.

  • The solution approach

tante-e, one of the leading Shopify Plus agencies in Germany, was brought in to provide support. A relaunch was carried out in collaboration with AEVOR, featuring a unique, tailor-made design. tante-e conceived and programmed a custom theme specifically for the AEVOR brand, supported the design agency in its design, and was involved early on in the design process. After the relaunch, tante-e continued to work closely with the AEVOR team to continuously optimize the online shop using analytics and A/B testing.

The implementation

Mobile design

Since the majority of AEVOR's target audience uses mobile devices to access the online store, the design was specifically optimized for these devices. The navigation was designed for small screens, and the entire store was developed to run smoothly and be easy to use on mobile devices.

Uniform theme editor structure

Since the e-commerce team is responsible for both AEVOR and Pinq Ponq, both stores were set up with identical backend structures. This significantly simplifies the team's work and results in significant time savings in daily operations.

Integration of brand elements

A key element in AEVOR's brand guide is the slant. This slant has been integrated into the design and featured in various places throughout the store. It appears, for example, on the homepage banner, the loading bar, and in the background of various pages.

Mobile menu

A particular highlight of the new design was the mobile menu. It utilized an innovative design that combines dropdowns and image sliders. This allows users to navigate to the desired categories in a space-saving and visually appealing way.

Product presentation and details

The focus of the product presentation was on clarity and visual cleanliness to emphasize the brand's sporty look and feel. The sticky Add-to-Cart button allows customers to add products to their cart at any time, even while browsing further on the page. Additionally, the products' core USPs are listed along with icons directly at the page header to facilitate the purchase decision and optimally present the product.

Features & Detail Section

This section has been redesigned for mobile devices and presents all relevant product information in a space-saving manner. Instead of traditional dropdowns or accordions, the information is displayed in a box.

The results

The relaunch resulted in a modern, visually appealing online store that reflects AEVOR's new branding and corporate identity. The new store is not only aesthetically pleasing but also focused on performance and results. For the AEVOR team, the store has been significantly simplified, and despite the intensive use of photos and videos, page speed has increased significantly.

Lessons Learned

Through this project, tante-e learned that it's possible to build online shops for design-conscious brands without compromising on aesthetics or performance. A minimalist design makes products stand out more, and small, brand-specific details can help differentiate a website from the competition and appeal to brand fans. A well-thought-out mobile menu can increase clarity and facilitate navigation without compromising aesthetics.
